Here at the Comedy Unit we produce some of Scotland’s best loved television and radio shows as well as a range of programmes for transmission across network and satellite channels. Formed in 1996, we became part of the RDF Media Group in August 2006.

Top shows that have come out of the Comedy Unit include Rab C Nesbitt, Chewin’ the Fat, Still Game, the Karen Dunbar Show, Offside , Only An Excuse? and Legit. Empty, a brand new sitcom for BBC 2 will air Thursday nights at 10pm starting on 28th Feb.  Channel 4 Sketch Show Blowout won Best Comedy at the Scottish BAFTAS and is nominated for Best Entertainment at the Celtic Medai Festival.

radio shows

The company now produce around 50 hours of radio a year. Watsons Wind Up starring the hugely popular Jonathan Watson is on air now until mid-April on BBC Radio Scotland.   Fags, Mags & Bags by Sanjeev Kohli and Donny McLeary was a huge hit on on BBC Radio Four in 2007 and will return for a second series later in 2008.Comedy series Exterminating Angels was a huge success when it aired on Radio Four in the spring.

The Comedy Unit also produce live shows.  To read more about our shows at the Glasgow Comedy Festival 2008 click here. Recent sucesses include How to Look Good Naked Live! at Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium and Rikki & Me based on the life of Rikki Fulton and starring Tony Roper and Gerard Kelly. Last summer, sketch troupe The Ugly Kidmet with critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe.

We regularly showcase the best in new writing with our popular Rough Cuts night at the Stand comedy club in Glasgow.
