Here at the Comedy Unit we produce around 60 hours of radio every year. Radio is the perfect medium to introduce new talent in writing as well as performing and many of our radio shows have progressed on to television.

After a successful run on BBC Radio 4 in Oct 2007, Fags, Mags & Bags has been re-commissioned for a second series to be broadcast late 2008. To check out the show's Radio 4 web page click here. Series 1 is also being repeated, from Thurs 26th June to Thurs 31st July at 6.30pm.

A two part pilot show called Vox-Poppers airs on BBC Radio Scotland on the 2nd and 9th May 2008. Written by Colin Ramone and Colin Simpson, the show is about a dramatic event in people's lives retold almost entirely through anecdote, blurring the line between comedy and reality. Episode 1 is called The Funeral and stars Tom Urie, Julie Wilson-Nimmo, Gavin Mitchell and Calum Cuthbertson. Ep 2 is called The Burglary, and stars Gerard Kelly, Sean Scanlon, Barbara Rafferty, Raymond Mearns and Kevin Bridges.
Watsons Wind Up starring the hugely popular Jonathan Watson has finished a 13 run on BBC Radio Scotland. Series 14 of the popular show is on its way, we'll keep you posted when it's scheduled. Thanks to everyone who came along to the GFT and enjoyed the show!
Having it All is a brand new comedy-drama from the pen of Jackie Bird which went out on BBC Radio Scotland in Aug 2007. Having It All stars Michelle Gomez (Book Group, Green Wing) as Debbie Williams, a divorced mother of two bravely attempting to juggle career, kids, romance, fitness, friendship and a wine rack.
The Summer Supplement returned to BBC Radio Scotland every weekday throughout July 2007. Gerard Kelly hosted two weeks of wireless wonderment, fun and entertainment on BBC Radio Scotland, with Lewis McLeod taking the reins from for the final two weeks.
Also in July 2007 David Sneddon hosted Keep Off The Grass on BBC Radio Scotland, filling in for Off The Ball throughout the summer.
The Exterminating Angels is a new sitcom by Martin Shea, Eamonn O'Neill and James O'Neill, set in a pest control agency where the pests answer back - with Karl Theobald and Dan Antopolski. It was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in May 2007.

The Comedy Unit have made numerous successful radio programmes across the BBC networks including two sports sketch shows for Radio Five Live. Keep Taking the Nandrolone featured the vocal talents of Alistair McGowan and Jonathan Watson, and the following year saw Freddie Flintoff Ate My Ashes with Kevin Connolly and rising star Kayvan Novak. The critically acclaimed Ronan the Amphibian also aired on Radio Four.
With Cowan's Christmas Crooners, Tam Cowan presented a collection of his favourite Christmas Classics for an un-suspecting Radio Scotland audience on Christmas Day 2006.
Late 2006 saw a new six part series for BBC Radio Scotland, Flipside of Faith. Which focused on the relationship between comedy and religion. The first three shows were presented by Philip Differ, who took a light hearted look at growing up with a faith in Scotland with contributions from Tommy Sheridan, Cameron Stout, Sanjeev Kohli and Karen Dunbar. The final three shows were hosted by Miles Jupp, who used comedy archive and expert contributors to analyse the comedy depictions of religion through the decades.
Shows such as Only An Excuse?, Chewin’ the Fat and The Karen Dunbar Show all started out on the radio. We’re always on the lookout for new and innovative radio
