Susan Calman is one of Scotland’s rising stars in the world of comedy. After seven years of being a corporate lawyer, Susan decided to try her hand at stand up comedy. Just over a year after her first gig she decided that being a comedian was much more fun and gave up her glamorous career to try and make people laugh.
Born in Glasgow, Susan started her comedy career performing in pubs and clubs all around the country, quickly working her way up the comedy ladder.
She is now a regular compere at the Stand comedy clubs in Glasgow and Edinburgh and was a semi finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards and So You Think You’re Funny Women competition in 2006.
Susan performed her one woman show Short Story, to a sell out audience at the Glasgow Comedy Festival in 2005 and will be taking the show to Edinburgh in 2007.
Susan has written sketches for BBC Radio Scotland’s Watson’s Wind Up and continues to write for numerous radio and television shows. She has also appeared in a number of pilot and taster episodes of programmes produced by the Comedy Unit.
Susan is a charismatic speaker whose observational humour is in great demand around the United Kingdom. Her background and skills make her an ideal choice as an after dinner speaker, or to provide corporate entertainment.
